Full-time employees may enroll in individual or family health coverage on the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment. BMI’s health insurance program includes all of the categories listed below.
Currently, the average cost of employee-only coverage $10-$15 per week. While family coverage is always available, after three (3) years of employment BMI covers a majority of the cost for family coverage. Cost to these employees currently averages $25-35 per week.
Employees have three medical insurance plans to choose from, including two rich PPO plans and a high-deductible Health Savings Account (HSA) plan. If the HSA plan is selected, BMI makes contributions to the employee’s account to help offset the high deductible.
- A flexible dental insurance plan is included, which covers preventive care and basic procedures.
- BMI provides a vision reimbursement stipend to help with vision care needs for covered individuals.
- BMI’s health insurance program also includes a $25,000 life insurance policy.
Paid Time Off
Currently, new employees immediately begin earning paid time off (PTO) at the rate of one week per year. After one year of full-time employment, that rate doubles. PTO accrues, and can be carried over from year to year, in accordance with BMI’s company policies.
Our company observes nine (9) paid holidays during the year, and full-time employees will receive holiday pay after completing thirty (30) days of employment.
BMI also offers a paid Sick Leave program, in accordance with California state law.
401(k) Retirement Plan
BMI provides eligible employees with a 401(k) Qualified Retirement plan, which is an excellent means of long-term savings for your retirement. The company typically contributes to participating employees’ plans in the form of matching funds; this contribution level is reviewed and determined on an annual basis.
BMI makes a variety of incentive programs available to eligible employees. These include commissions and reward trips for sales representatives, and performance-based bonuses for supervisors and support personnel. We also have a “Cash for Leads” program that rewards employees for identifying and communicating new sales opportunities.
All employees not participating in a fixed incentive earnings program are eligible for our Quarterly Bonus Program. These employees are rewarded for their effort in helping BMI achieve its operating goals. Incentives are calculated and paid out on a quarterly basis.
Employee Assistance Program
All BMI employees may participate in our employee assistance program (EAP) immediately upon hire. The benefits within this program help employees and their immediate families with a wide range of challenges and issues. Situations addressed by the EAP include marriage and family struggles, emotional problems, substance abuse, financial strain, and eating disorders. All conversations and records through the EAP are strictly confidential, and the full cost of this program is paid for by BMI.
AFLAC Supplemental Insurance
BMI makes available to its employees the ability to purchase supplemental insurance through AFLAC. These plans are not paid for by the company, but are only available to individuals and their families through their employers. Plans are designed to pay cash benefits for specific categories of claims, in order to help employees and their families with ongoing household expenses and unforeseen medical expenses.
